I had a fantastic time at Gary Con IX last weekend! I've put the photos up in a public FB album and annotated each photo:

    Wow, that looks like an amazing time. I don't remember reading about that abandoned 1980 revision to the Monster Manual . . . would have been cool to see.

      I don't believe there's any written record of a further revision to the Monster Manual. It's been inferred from the unused artwork that was found, each illustration being for a monster that had no illustration. The first few printings of the Monster Manual each added artwork, so this was likely to be a continuation of that process.
