Another great blob film is Caltiki the Immortal Monster by Mario Bava.Chris Holmeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09226704397864485757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4046247285022763255.post-33375653112221573402018-09-03T07:26:42.407-07:002018-09-03T07:26:42.407-07:00Thanks! He was specifically asked if it was pure Howard, and he said that it was the Lancer/Ace series. (If I had to guess, it was on Fin's OD&D message boards.) I think it extremely likely that "The Curse of the Monolith" helped inspire Dave to create the types of critters listed as the "clean-up crew".Geoffrey McKinneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00042661843714609025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4046247285022763255.post-11111254420857779472018-08-31T20:42:12.065-07:002018-08-31T20:42:12.065-07:00If so, the origin is disputed, since Gygax also cl...If so, the origin is disputed, since Gygax also claimed it (quote above). I'd be interested in a link to Arneson's quote. I looked on ODD74 and the Comeback Inn and didn't see any references to it.Zenopus Archiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14069501995927451558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4046247285022763255.post-57093043687166818902018-08-30T14:20:47.876-07:002018-08-30T14:20:47.876-07:00Zen I would have to dig a bit to find it, but The ...Zen I would have to dig a bit to find it, but The Ochre Jelly was claimed by Arneson, and it was originally little more than a rip off.... er, adaptation, of the Horta from Star Trek. That's the silicone creature from the episode "Devil in the Dark".DHBoggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02170439175265397893noreply@blogger.com
